Build Your Foundation in Connective Parenting NVR

Professionals Level 1 Course

A 3-Day Specialist Training for Professionals Ready to Transform Their Work with Families.

You’ll leave the course ready to start sharing it with families you work with.

The Connective Parenting NVR approach is different to ‘traditional’ parenting.

It helps empower parents to resist and reduce challenging behaviours. It’s not just for ‘challenging’ teenagers. It provides a positive, connective way of parenting for all parents irrespective of the age of the child.

Learn how parents can:

  • Raise their presence and increase their connection with their child.

  • Create a strong support network around their family.

  • Resist challenging behaviours.

  • De-escalate escalating situations.

You need an approach that is trauma-informed, attachment-aware, neurodivergent friendly, and - above all - effective.

The course is accredited by the ACCPH as CPD.

Just wanted to say thank you, the course was great, really thought provoking, challenging at times in a good way, feels like I have a much better understanding of the NVR framework as a result, so very much appreciated.

Previous Attendee

The training for NVR from Sarah was so interesting – Normally a few days sat in training can be quite tedious but Sarah kept it interesting in the activities and content. It was especially helpful to be able to catch up with Sarah in the follow up sessions to talk through what is working well/where we may be struggling, particularly as we have had to deliver virtually which is new to us! Thank you Sarah!

What the 3-Day Course Covers

The Level 1 training is delivered online over three days (typically 9:30 am – 3:30 pm) to allow for deep reflection and practical application.

  • The Foundations of NVR - understanding the philosophy of "Connection first" and the "Harbour Walls" analogy.

  • De-escalation & Regulation - practical tools for the nervous system - both for the professional and the family.

  • Raising Presence - how to help parents move from a position of "learned helplessness" to a position of strength and visibility.

  • Practical Implementation - how to adapt these tools for your specific role, whether in social work, private practice, or a school setting.

  • Bringing supporters on board

  • Prioritising concerns

  • How to embed the approach to bring about change

  • Tried and tested ways of sharing the approach with your families to make a real difference in outcomes

Why do this training now?

Considered by many to be a ‘game changing’ approach, now is the time to be adding it to your toolkit.  This flexible approach helps families with so many differing issues and can be adapted to meet their needs, it’s not a one size fits all approach.

The demand for connective, trauma-informed support is higher than ever. This course isn't just about learning a new method; it's about adopting a framework that prioritizes the safety of the relationship as the foundation for growth and change. We teach you how to hold the line on behavior while never letting go of the child.

Who is the training for?

  • Education Staff: Adapting NVR for the school environment and supporting parents through the transition.
  • Social Workers & Family Support Workers: Adding a "game-changing" tool to your statutory or private practice.
  • Therapists & Coaches: For those who want a connective, non-punitive framework that holds firm boundaries while protecting the child's dignity.
